It's the UV rays that damage them over time. I keep mine covered when not in use so they will last 5 or six years.

excuse my lower case, my arm is in a sling. my husband and i have found nirvana. it is ryderwood, washington. very nice 55 plus community where you can own a cozy home for a reasonable cost and you can rv for six months a year and live in a stick house the other six months. we pay $950 property tax a year, no income tax and shop in oregon with no sales tax. we have lived here over two years and we are happy as clams. nice community for hiking with your dog, bicycle riding, walking by the little lake, making good friends. we are a community of a little over 400 people out in the country, about 30 miles from a city.

I had the 1986 Pilgrim with the wet bath until 1995. It was an excellent camper and I had no issues with it. I paid attention to the caulking maintenance on it. We ended up selling it to get a 5th wheel. I last saw it in 1998 but we have since moved from that state.

Use little plastic tips like they use to hold lag bolts in concrete. You can get them in all sizes at any home improvement store. Tap the plastic tip in then screw the doors back on.

I think it is a combination of things. I read an article the other day that said the young are not exploring the outdoors like previous generations did...if they don't explore the outdoors as much they probably don't camp out as much and if they don't campout much they won't evolve into RV'ers.

RE: How do you remove old tape and adhesive?
Perhaps the slightest of slices in the tape with lighter fluid then applied will allow the glue underneath to separate so the tape will pull off in sections. Good luck, I know many products work but I have used lighter fluid for so long on so many different items that I haven't gone to anything else.

I had the same experience the first time I did it also. The 5'er had gone 4 years with just draining then when I flushed it out, small gobs of tissue etc kept draining out. Even after the water was clear once or twice I would flush it again and small chunks of TP would rinse out.

We have it and it is a plus. You also get a %age or 2 off of other purchases at any place that accepts American Express cards. I saved quite a bit on an airline ticket.
